POL 130 - Intro to International Relations (Summer 2024)
Course Description: The aim of this class is to introduce students to the building blocks of International Relations and the foundational attributes of the Global World Order. This course is expected to provide a
general, introductory - but not elementary - overview of themes unique to the landscape of IR.
Since this course will run for only four weeks, it will be accelerated and relatively intense. To do
well in this class, I expect you to spend a couple of hours outside of class time viewing lectures,
working on readings, watching videos, and working on assignments. As an International
Relations researcher myself, I have two goals - 1) provide a "road map" of the field and 2) spark an
initial interest in IR which you can develop further in advanced classes

Course Description: Welcome to POL 101 - American Government and Politics! This eight-week course offers an accelerated and intensive introduction to the core elements of American government and politics, with each week focusing on a distinct theme. By the end of the course, you will be able to identify and explain American political institutions and their historical significance, employ research and writing skills to create strong arguments, analyze the relationships among the three branches of federal government, and examine the roles of interest groups, political parties, and elections in political behavior. I look forward to engaging with you and discussing these topics.
